Douglas F. (Papa Doug) Manchester

Papa Doug Manchester, Chairman of Manchester Financial Group, is involved on a national and international level in banking, telecommunications, radio broadcast, medical instrumentation, publishing, and real estate development, including two of the largest hotels in the United States: The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego and the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina, as well as the luxurious Grand Del Mar resort. Currently, through his Manchester Texas Financial Group, he is embarking on development of a Convention Center Hotel in Austin, Texas. Founder of the La Jolla Bank and Trust Company, La Jolla Pacific Savings Bank, and NextWave Telecom. He was the founding chair of the San Diego Chapter of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of United Way, and a founding member of the San Diego Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization. Papa Doug serves as a Board Trustee at Wake Forest University, The Burnham Institute, NextWave Wireless, the University of San Diego, the International Chief Executives Organization and has been a long standing member of the World Presidents Organization and Chief Executives Organization. Among many recognitions, Manchester has received the Alexis de Tocqueville Society Award, ConVisionary Award from San Diego's Convention & Visitors Bureau, Alonzo Award from the San Diego Downtown Partnership, American Diabetes Association Father of the Year, San Diego Press Club Headliner of the Year, the National Conference of Christians and Jews Human Unity Award, San Diego Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, and the Young Presidents Organization Man of the Year Award. His motto is "Making Positive Memories."
